During our trip in Florida, we went to the Everglades. In the south, just 35 miles away from Miami, you can find the Everglades Nationals Park. It is the third-largest national park in the United States. You can either do your Everglades tour on your own or join one of the plenty guided Everglades tours. No matter what you choose, you can definitely expect a great experience.
Exploring the wilderness of the Everglades National Park is really fascinating. The Everglades National Park is the home of a lot of rare and threatened species, such as the American crocodile, Florida panther, manatee, brown pelican, southern bald eagle and loggerhead turtle. If you´re lucky, you might see some of them during your Everglades tour. I´m pretty sure you will see some crocodiles, because they are widely spread. We have only been there for one day and we´ve seen a lot of crocodiles.
During our stay we didn´t have nice weather, it was very cold and windy, which is really untypical for Florida. But if you go there I can only advice you to bring plenty of mosquito repellent. You should also take a map on your Everglades tour, especially if you go on your own. I think you can do a really nice day trip to the Everglades National Park, but if you want to, you can also stay longer and take lots of beautiful Everglades photos.
On our way back to the city, we had lunch in a Cuban restaurant in the suburbs of Miami. We stopped immediately after passing the Miami sign on the right hand sight. I can highly recommend stopping for a bite to eat there. The traditional Cuban dish with beans, chicken, rice and vegetables was really delicious.
